About the role

The Specialist Instructor Leadership role supports front-line leaders to refine their leadership capability to achieve consistently high levels safety, engagement and operational performance through the utilisation of the Mastery Program. The role will provide ongoing support of Personal Development Planning and the facilitation of regular Leadership development activities, both formal training and in-field coaching. This includes the development of key standards for leadership, coaching and other support to help bring these standards to reality across multiple operations.
The purpose of this role is to support the building and sustaining of high and consistent levels of leadership skills and performance for our frontline leaders. The work of the Specialist Instructor Leadership includes:

  • Supporting ongoing development and implementation of the Operations Services Mastery Program, specifically in relation to leadership.
  • The development and implementation of Leadership Standards and related resources including upskilling resources and verification tools and practices.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to develop resources and methods for upskilling front line leaders to work consistently to the established Leadership Standards.
  • Delivery of Leadership Masterclasses and other formal Leadership Training in an interactive classroom environment.
  • Facilitating capability diagnostic assessments and support effective development planning activities in partnership with Superintendents and Managers
  • Carrying out formal leadership performance verifications against Leadership Standards at the frontline including coaching others in assessment and verification processes.
  • Continuous monitoring of leader performance and initiating the necessary input or support to ensure Leadership Standards and required Development Activities are achieved and maintained.
  • Encouraging and leading productive collaboration across the Maintenance, Production and Training teams through informal processes as well as formal forums and routines.
About you

Ideally, you will be or have:
  • A strong track record as a leader of people in mining, at least a seasoned supervisor or experienced superintendent level and preferably across multiple mine sites and some or all operational settings.
  • A skilled coach, trainer and adviser with the ability to maximize the effectiveness of training and upskilling activities in the workplace.
  • Extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of key leadership skills and activities required to deliver effective leadership.
  • Good experience and skills in the use of technology in managing work processes, data capture and performance reporting.
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to engage and build relationships across multiple layers of the organization from senior management to frontline leaders.
  • Very good organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.
