As a Senior Segment Manager, you will manage the end-to-end strategy and execution for Optus’ segment approach to market, leveraging an in-depth understanding of consumer insights, developing relevant propositions, running go-to-market programs and accountability for the key business drivers and commercials associated with the segments. With a lens on marketing compliance and governance, you will operate within a robust compliance framework and help enhance the profile and performance of Marketing Operations accordingly.

To be successful, you will have agile approach, be a commercially astute and innovative thinker adept at managing complex stakeholder relationships and leading large matrix-style teams. You will bring a high level of initiative and entrepreneurialism to find segment solutions that can accommodate competing priorities and channel initiatives. Critical to your success will be your ability to understand stakeholder requirements and to achieve high level collaboration across all facets of the business.


  • Understanding and continually refining the profile of a priority segments, using in depth insights to craft the best proposition and go-to-market approach for the segment.
  • Develop the segment strategies for each of the relevant portfolios, including (but not limited to) initiatives across proposition, offers, marketing, distribution and customer experience.
  • Working with our product teams to create compelling propositions ground in customer and base insights.
  • Delivering go-to-market programs across all elements for a segment.
  • Innovation pipeline including product / technology.
  • Marketing communications to new and existing customers.
  • Base management initiatives.
  • Relevant sales / service / network initiatives.
Experience Required
  • Minimum 7+ years professional experience in a marketing environment
  • Experience in developing strategic segment plans and propositions, meeting specific customer needs, linked to business outcomes
  • Experience in managing multiple, complex segment focused market plans to maximize launch success
  • Experience in managing cross-functional, virtual teams
  • Product management skills and experience from concept to execution
  • Analytical background with ability interprets data and make recommendations, based on insights
  • Strong project management skills
  • Solid experience in Segmentation Marketing & Execution
  • Knowledge of the Australian Mobile / TV & Content / Internet / multimedia/ consumer products industry
  • Experience in online / digital services
  • Strong financial & commercial acumen
