Our Sustainable Infrastructure team is responsible for maximising value for our customers and the community through innovative development, and optimised management and delivery of all infrastructure. Working across multiple locations with all other business units, this team plans, builds, manages and maintains all of our water and sewerage assets.

We are regenerating in the Wastewater Assets team at SA Water to further improve the services we provide to our customers. We have an excellent ongoing opportunity based at SA Water House, reporting directly to the Lead Asset Planner, Wastewater Assets to develop asset management plans that will optimise wastewater asset performance, reduce lifecycle costs while managing risk, and create greater value for money for all our customers.

The successful incumbent will be able to drive some key initiatives within SA Water including large scale recycled water projects, bring about innovative thinking and approaches to asset management practices and be heavily involved in regulatory planning and submission activities.

This role will see you be responsible for:

  • Strategic long-term planning and development of asset management plans for the state's wastewater and recycled water assets, including planning for growth and compliance requirements.
  • Develop asset management strategies, processes, risk models and methodologies for wastewater and recycled water assets.
  • Asses the current and future performance of the assets against both external and internal targets. Establish historic trends for monitoring and detection of changing performance over time. Ensure asset planning considers analysis of internal and external operating environments.
  • Identify required investments for the facilities & systems you are responsible for and develop regulatory submission justifications as well as internal business cases for progression to capital delivery.
  • Provide leadership and sponsorship in the development and delivery of capital programs and projects, including planning, sponsorship and budget management for several large scale, strategic recycled water projects; as well as compliance driven, environmental improvement projects.
  • Develop and apply decision making tools and models to prioritise investments throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative and effective partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure developed Asset Management Plans meet business and customer needs.
  • Provide advice and guidance on technical matters to inform solution design in conjunction with project stakeholders; and support the research of new and innovative technology for application on wastewater & recycled water infrastructure.
Your experience will include:
  • Qualifications in engineering, science, asset management or similar discipline
  • Sound understanding of asset management principles is an advantage
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater operations and maintenance activities is an advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Ability to show leadership in a team environment or work autonomously

Whilst this role is based at our Head Office in the CBD, our operations cover the state and will require some regional travel throughout South Australia. Working in an activity based working environment, this role comes with an attractive salary range including salary sacrifice options.
