Period of Appointment

Fixed term, Full time for a period of 2 years.

Hours per fortnight

Program Information

Justice Connect is a program of work that will address shortcomings with existing systems, processes and data supporting the criminal and civil jurisdictions managed by the Department of Justice. The Program will replace outdated technologies through better information sharing and provides access to timely and trusted information.


  • Analyse and assess current and target-state data models and data quality.
  • Work with business SMEs to understand data reporting requirements.
  • Work with Program Solution Architect to develop data conversion and BI technical architecture
  • Develop data warehouse and reporting data models.
  • Design and develop data extract, transformation and load processes (or appropriate equivalent) for data conversion and/or business analysis purposes.
  • Document designs and code for support.
  • Maintain a high level of code quality.
  • Conduct training and knowledge transfer sessions with technical specialists and business SMEs
  • Support business SMEs in the development of reports and data output products.
  • Develop work plan and manage own activities and report on progress to the Program management group.
  • The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.

Desirable Requirements
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience developing Business Intelligence data structures such as Star schemas and OLAP data cubes and developing “many-to-one” data conversion and integration processes from multiple data sets into a single target data set.
  • Experience in developing high-performing data migration processes.
  • Working knowledge/experience in Agile development practices.
Experience using some or all of the following software/tools:
  • SQL Server Integration Services, Reporting Services, Power BI
  • Experience working with Microsoft and/or Amazon cloud data services (SaaS/PaaS/IaaS).
  • Microsoft Access
  • Lotus Notes/Domino (legacy)
  • Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
