  • Join a volunteer-based, community focussed organisation supporting the creation of more resilient communities across NSW.
  • Temporary Part Time role: 14 hours per week up to February 2022 with possibility for extension.
  • Location: State Headquarters, Wollongong
  • Support a range of functional areas during emergencies

About The Opportunity

Program Support Officer – Metro Operations tasks include a range of research and analysis, data and systems management as well as administrative activities to support the formulation of advice and recommendations of a small planning team.

The NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is an emergency and rescue service made up almost entirely of volunteers and supported by a small staff contingent. NSW SES is a key influencer of other emergency service agencies and works closely with these partners to modernise and grow volunteering to save lives and protect communities

While major responsibilities are for flood, storm operations and tsunamis, the NSW SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state. This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural), other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats, Urban Search and Rescue and Community First Response.

About You

The successful applicant will:
  • Have experience assisting a team with the delivery of a range of projects or programs,
  • Have strong communication, organisation and administration skills,
  • Have the ability to receive and respond to routine queries, providing consistent advice and information,
  • Have the ability to contribute to the preparation of draft reports, correspondence, papers etc to support the development of program initiatives,
  • Be confident to develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders.
