About the role

We are looking for a self motivated Project Controls Advisor that would like to develop their career by being part of a team that delivers a diverse range of projects and studies.

The role will be responsible for overseeing owners team and contractor project controls activities to ensure compliance with Rio Tinto projects procedures and requirements.

This role is a great opportunity to become part of a team which is embedded in the growing part of the business of closures. You will assist in business decisions and drive innovative ideas that will build integrity in the future.

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager – Closures, you will:

  • Prepare, collate and validate project reporting
  • Oversee contractor project controls activities to ensure compliance with Rio Tinto projects procedures and requirements.
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities for streamlining project controls work processes.
  • Administer the implementation of effective contingency and change management process.
  • Administer the development of Final Forecast Cost (FFC) and proactive identification of risks and mitigations.
  • Analyse and report progress to plan to contribute to strategic project decisions.
  • Ensure potential issues are highlighted early by ensuring schedules and reports are accurate and issued on time

About you

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Sound knowledge of project controls
  • Experience in project procedures such as:
  • Experience and knowledge of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
  • Develop and maintain project cost management systems in line with current best work practices
  • Continuously monitor project costs, commitments, highlight any deviation from budget
  • Compile periodic reporting on project work scopes including monthly project reporting, quarterly project reviews and additional ad-hoc reporting requirements
