The Corporate Planning and Risk team sits within the Corporate Delivery Services Group and the Corporate Performance team. The Group takes responsibility for driving strategies in the areas of governance, planning, risk and compliance management, people management, planning and development practices, organisational culture, knowledge management, Cabinet processes, stakeholder engagement and improving quality, and ICT.

About the role

An exciting ongoing opportunity for a Planning and Risk Officer VPS3 is available in the Corporate Planning and Risk team.

In this role you will help support the team deliver valued professional services and advice in numerous areas including business planning, governance and compliance, risk management, business continuity, supporting Parliamentary processes (PAEC), internal audit management, Audit and Risk Committee secretariat, integrity, reporting and accommodation and facilities coordination.

The key accountabilities are:

  • Supporting the team to apply and monitor the Department's Risk Management policy and framework, including reporting on risk management activities
  • Help the team to apply and monitor the Department's Corporate and other related plans, including reporting on progress against key initiatives in those plans
  • Research and contribute to briefing papers, reports and correspondence
  • Provide support with analysing and reporting on portfolio performance to internal and external customers (e.g. preparation of quarterly performance reports and annual report input)
  • Contributing to the Department's annual business planning cycle (e.g. Senior Executive Group Strategic Planning sessions, ministerial input, executive workshops, business plans)
  • Support the development and implementation of business management practices that facilitate the achievement of the Department's objectives and strategies

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will be required to demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a set of competing priorities, contributing to a dynamic and flexible team workload
  • Demonstrated ability to collect and analyse both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Strong written and oral communication skills supported by stakeholder management abilities (desirable)
  • Good interpersonal skills - the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with key internal stakeholders (at varying levels of seniority)
