Manager, External Communications

  • Develop and deliver the Suncorp Group CEO’s internal and external communications program
  • Brisbane or Sydney based – 10-month contract opportunity

The Role

As the Manager External Communications, you will support communications activities and support the development and implementation of the corporate affairs strategy, working closely with other teams within Suncorp.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver communications strategies and programs to meet corporate objectives
  • Identify and manage communications for issues that have the potential to impact Suncorp’s brands and reputation
  • Manage media relationships with journalists and act as a spokesperson as required
  • Develop and deliver the Group CEO’s internal and external communications program
  • Work with the Investor Relations team to support key corporate activity including Full Year Results, Half Year Results, the Annual General Meeting, investor days, mergers and acquisitions
  • Prepare communications materials including ASX/media releases, Q&A documents, issues briefs, website copy
  • Support key thought leadership and advocacy initiatives and provide support to colleagues across the Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations team

Skills & Experience

  • 10 years+ communications experience with extensive knowledge and understanding of communications principles, best practice and emerging trends and technologies
  • Strategic communications, media and external relations experience
  • Knowledge of financial, legal, and regulatory frameworks as well as market dynamics and key business drivers
  • Degree in communications/journalism/public relations/media studies or business-related discipline (mandatory)
  • Post-graduate training in business is an advantage (desired)
