The Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW) was formed in April 2020 as a central agency for regional issues and is focused on creating a liveable, inclusive and sustainable New South Wales with thriving natural environments/regions and strong economic prosperity.

DRNSW is partnering with Hudson Canberra on a project to identify a number of high performing individuals for critical roles supporting the growth and prosperity of Regional NSW communities. These roles provide an exciting opportunity to truly make a difference for the future sustainability of Regional NSW.

About the role

The Program Manager oversees the delivery of large regional recovery and growth funding programs across NSW, with the focus on ensuring the prosperity of regional communities following the compounding impact of drought, floods, bushfires and COVID-19.

The roles undertake high level stakeholder and issues management, fosters regional, cross-sector and cross-jurisdiction networks and act as a principal conduit between Government departments and key program stakeholders, bringing them together to translate policy positions into operational programs.

These roles will work closely with the Executive Director and Directors in Regional Programs and Senior Executives across DRNSW and other agencies to lead the development, implementation and review of strategic regional development programs and projects including the effective management of these critical programs and projects to delivery sustainability to regional NSW communities

About you

You will have a broad understanding of public sector management, the machinery of government, political processes and ministerial requirements, with extensive successful experience in leading program implementation and delivery of outcomes through projects.

A proven track record in building relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders will be advantageous, coupled with exceptional communication skills.

Additionally, you will have appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as business management, project management, financial management, and/or equivalent experience and training.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience leading and managing complex programs 
  • Demonstrated experience initiating and managing partnership projects with a range of industry and government stakeholders
  • A passion for improving the lives of people living and working in regional NSW
  • Knowledge of government programs, decision processes and probity requirements
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or equivalent, relevant professional experience and training.
