We’re inventing the future, right here, right now, at Thales. We design the critical security solutions of tomorrow by combining the curiosity to explore, the intelligence to question and the vision to create. Together we solve complicated problems by combining our experience in the market with our leading research and development capabilities.

Our Opportunity

Our Vehicle and Tactical Systems (VTS) business is currently looking for a Program Manager in the Integrated Weapons & Systems (IWS) business line. The Program Manager will be responsible for the Armaments fleet Upgrade and Repair contract. This provides supply chain management and analysis services from Melbourne, combined with specialist repair, manufacturing and warehousing from our Lithgow site. This contract will also provide system upgrade services which encompass design through to fitment, delivery and sustainment.

This role and location represents an exciting new direction for IWS with significant strategic impact at the VTS and country and it will be critical for the successful candidate to be capable of pursuing further growth and acting autonomously.

  • Maintaining exceptional delivery of the contract for the business and driving further growth
  • Represent Thales in all meetings with the Commonwealth as well as developing strong internal and external customer relationships and provide timely solutions to the customer
  • Oversee all aspects of the contract and ensure it operates within the allocated timeframe and budget constraints
  • Provide regular reporting as well as coordinate all program risk management and control activities

About You

  • Ideally you are degree qualified or have strong practical experience in the business/management/logistics or engineering fields
  • Experience in project management will be viewed favourably together with any experience in supply chain or even perhaps from a technical background (electronics, mechanical)
  • You have exceptional proven customer relationship skills
  • Your written and verbal communication is impeccable
  • You have the ability to coordinate tasks and meet deadlines and work well in a busy environment and under pressure
  • A solid understanding of the Defence user community would be well regarded

Special Considerations

This role is Melbourne based and will be based out of our Thales offices at the World Trade Centre.

Whilst not considered direct reports, the role is responsible for monitoring and coordinating the delivery of a sub-contracted team of Supply Chain specialists as well.

The successful candidate will also need to be eligible for an NV1 security clearance.
