Do you enjoy working outdoors in the fresh air? Are you looking for a job that will keep you fit & active whilst giving you the chance to earn good money in return for hard work?

What do you have to do?

  1. Visit www.qldstrawberries.com.au and browse the 31 Participating Farms profile pages – you can view them by Region or in List format
  2. Click on SIGN UP NOW and complete your contact details, answer the recruitment questions and then select the farms that you would like to apply to at Question 21
  3. Click on Submit and your application will be sent directly to all of the farms that you have selected
  4. Farms may take 7-10 days to get in touch as they are busy getting ready for the harvest season. You must negotiate your employment directly with the farm – remember there are 31 to choose from with options from small family farms to large commercial enterprises.

What's involved?

Picking: You start early in the morning and will be picking strawberries directly from the plants using a picking trolley. You're seated and shaded as you pick your way up & down the strawberry rows gently plucking ripe and ready berries from the plants and placing them into the field harvest trays. You work alone on your own trolley and it's a great opportunity to listen to music or podcasts whilst you work. Many farms offer you the ability to be paid by the weight of the fruit that you pick so the faster and more skilled you become, the higher your wages become.

Packing: Most farms start packing the fruit picked that morning from about 8am onwards. You will have your own packing station - ergonomically set up to allow you to work at the best rate you can comfortably achieve. You will be working inside and alongside a group of colleagues. Many farms offer you the chance to earn based on the speed and accuracy of your work - the better you get at packing the berries whilst maintaining the high-quality standards, the more you are able to earn.
