Street Cleaner - Sweeper Driver

People@Work, on behalf of The City of Ballarat, currently has a vacancy for a Sweeper Driver within the Street Cleaning section to contribute to the cleanliness and presentation of our paths, tracks and streets for Ballarat's residents and visitors alike. The importance of cleanliness for all users of the City is a highly valued outcome.

This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic person who can work to task and work as part of a team to ensure that the key areas of the City are maintained in an appropriate state. The work does involve a significant amount of overtime as the Service does run 365 days per year. Applicant must be willing to work weekends and public holidays and as part of a roster. The position requires a medium rigid endorsement.

The successful applicant will be responsible for cleaning specific areas around the municipality in a safe and tidy manner and in accordance with established maintenance programs.

This is a permanent, full-time position, with an annualised salary which includes weekend work and public holidays, 9-day fortnight and salary of $76,116 per annum plus superannuation. This position works under the Waste and Street Cleaning Schedule in the Ballarat City Council Enterprise Agreement No. 8, 2019.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Qualifications and experience as listed in the position description.
  • Demonstrated ability to champion, model and promote the corporate values.
  • Demonstrated experience in an operational, cleaning or works role operating plant and hand tools (or relatable field).
  • Demonstrated experience operating small trucks, sweepers, street vacuums or related plant
  • Demonstrated experience working as a positive member of a team.
  • Experience following directions and working to a schedule
  • Possess a Victorian Driver's Licence endorsed to Medium Rigid standard Demonstrated ability to work to a rotating roster, work regular overtime, procedures, schedules and fill out appropriate daily and weekly forms
  • Demonstrated experience complying with and working to Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures
