Grade 2 $44626.40 - $55816.80
Full-time 38hpw, 9 day fortnight

Liverpool Plains Shire is a vibrant, dynamic and economically strong rural area located four hours north of Sydney and 45 minutes south of the regional centre of Tamworth. The region has a rich agricultural history and picturesque beauty encompassing the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and the sweeping expanse of the fertile Liverpool Plains.

The position of General Hand within the Roading Unit is to assist in the provision of efficient and competent construction and maintenance of roads and associated infrastructure within the shire. To be successful in this role you will need to address the essential criteria below.

Essential criteria:

  • Assist in the road construction andr road maintenance areas of Council particularly in pavement, drainage, concreting and traffic services activities.
  • MR (Medium Rigid) Drivers Licence.
  • Basic skills in the use of power and pneumatic tools.
  • Experience in working with minor tools and equipment
  • Good Communication Skills Oral and Written.
  • Occupational Health & Safety (WorkCover) Induction Ticket.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of Equal Employment Opportunity and Occupational Health and Safety, environmental management and quality risk and an ability to apply them to the work practices.

Desirable criteria:

  • Cert III in Civil construction
  • Competence / Certification in plant operation particularly bobcat/skidsteer, loader, roller and excavator would be an advantage.
