Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Award

Period of employment / Hours:

  • Multiple fixed term, full time and part time vacancies, commencing as soon as possible until 31 December 2021.
  • Fixed term casual (as and when required) commencing ASAP for a period of 12 months.


Tasmania Emergency Vaccination Centre - Statewide


  • Assist the Nurse Manager – Communicable Diseases Prevention Unit with coordination, planning, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of state and national immunisation programs on a statewide basis and support contractual obligations under the National Partnership Agreement on Essential Vaccines.
  • Establish and maintain links with key stakeholders in immunisation, communicable diseases and infection control, providing high quality communication. This includes the provision of advice and support to nurses, general practitioners and health professionals in both clinical and non-clinical settings involved in immunisation programs and the COVID-19 Vaccine Program.
  • Represent Public Health Services on local, state and national working parties and other key groups as required.
  • Facilitate and/or deliver education and training sessions on communicable diseases and immunisation to health professionals, government and community organisations.
  • Initiate the review, development and implementation of clinical policy and guidelines to support nursing best practice, acting as a leader in practice and research that contributes to high standards of client care resulting in policy documents that will guide and inform evidence-based practices.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Current Driver’s Licence.
  • Postgraduate qualification in immunisation.

Essential Requirements:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
  • Certification as a Nurse Immuniser registered with Public Health within Tasmania or eligible to be registered.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
