About the role

We are looking for a Shift Fitter to maintain and monitor fixed plant equipment at the Andoom Beneficiation Plant, to increase the reliability and availability for continuous operations.

Reporting to the Crew Leader and working a 4,5,5 day/night shift lifestyle roster, you will be:

  • Focusing on preventative maintenance activities whilst ensuring breakdowns are actioned in a safe and efficient manner;
  • Working towards increasing equipment reliability as well as availability;
  • Working on fixed plant equipment and supporting maintenance of conveyors, pumps, crushers, screens etc;
  • Fostering a culture of zero harm and continuous improvement.

What you'll bring

  • A Mechanical trade qualification
  • Previous experience working on a fixed plant within the mining or heavy industry environment
  • Sound problem solving abilities and strong attention to detail
  • A current 'C' class manual drivers licence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • High Risk work licenses such as forklift, EWP, rigger or dogman license
  • Previous exposure to maintenance management systems like SAP

Where you will be working

Our Weipa Operations includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals. Located on the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, each year the operation produces more than 35 million tonnes of bauxite.

Our operations are supported by a 1,900-strong workforceincluding 26 per cent who are women and 25 per cent Indigenous employees. Activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, ports, cultural heritage management, and processing facility management.

The development of our new mine, Amrun, which was completed in 2018, will extend the life of our Weipa bauxite operations by decades to come and significantly build on our 55-year history on the Western Cape.
