Our Longreach structures team currently has a permanent full-time opportunity for a Bridgeworker to join their team.

You will form part of a multi-skilled work group to deliver work on and about the track located anywhere between Clermont and Winton. This can include repairing and maintaining bridges, structures and culverts, general carpentry and labouring duties as well as variety of other railway maintenance activities across the network.

Occasional weekend work is also required to assist with track closures and you must be available to travel and work away from home.

About the role:

  • Safely and efficiently carry out labouring duties (timber, steel and concreting), ensuring track safety is maintained.
  • Carry out duties as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Observe all legal and safety obligations of the organisation.
  • Travel and perform outdoor work (including flood repair and other emergency work) throughout Queensland, often in challenging weather conditions and high temperatures.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and contribute to the development of new work practices.

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must have the following:

  • Hold a current manual ‘C’ class driver’ licence, HR license preferred.
  • Previous hands-on labouring or carpentry experience.
  • Previous trackworker and/or rail welding experience advantageous.
  • Backhoe or other licences/ tickets are desirable.
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently as part of team.
  • A strong commitment to safe working practices and zero harm.
  • Flexibility to work and travel across the district and work weekends when required.

What to expect:

  • Strong focus on safety and teamwork.
  • Training provided including Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure.
  • Base salary commencing at $51,647 per annum, allowances and penalty rates (where applicable) and generous super.
  • Permanent full-time role working across a 9-day fortnight, generally between the hours of 0600 to 1500 during summer and 0700 to 1600 during winter.
