JOB DESCRIPTION

Mt Weld Mining Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of ASX listed Lynas Rare Earths, which is an integrated producer from mine to customer of refined Rare Earth products for global markets.

Lynas operates a Mine and Concentration Plant at Mt Weld Western Australia, and a Refinery in Pahang, Malaysia (the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant, LAMP) which produces high purity Rare Earth products. In December 2019, Lynas announced Kalgoorlie, Western Australia has been selected as the location for the new cracking and leaching plant that will upgrade the Lynas Mt Weld rare earth concentrate that is currently exported to the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant in Malaysia.

The Mt Weld Mine and Concentrating Plant is located approximately 35kms south of Laverton in the North-Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. The Mt Weld concentrator has the capacity to process over 300,000 tonnes of high-grade ore per year from an open pit operation, with a mine life of more than 20 years.

Lynas makes Rare Earth oxides for the oil & gas, automotive and environmental technologies markets. Lynas is the largest supplier worldwide to the praseodymium-neodymium free market, and the only Rare Earth supplier of scale outside China.

The Role

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Contracts Officer to join Lynas Rare Earths. The role is responsible for managing the contractual agreements and commercial requirements for the WA operations. Reporting to the Finance and Commercial Manager this is a permanent full-time position working from our East Perth Office.

Skills And Experience Required For This Role

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications and/or substantial Contract Administration experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess claims or variations by Subcontractors against the quantity claimed as well as against their contractual requirements.
  • Sound commercial acumen accompanied by proven negotiation and inter-relationship skills.
  • Able to quickly grasp concepts and apply innovative options.
  • Strong team player and demonstrated ability to work as part of, or lead, a team.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrate effective time management and organisational skills.
  • Extensive computer literacy skills, including Microsoft suite and Pronto.
  • Shows initiative and is self-motivated, disciplined, and systematic.
  • Display sound problem identifying and solving skills.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety standards through personal actions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a contracting strategy for WA Operations that supports the long- and short-term plans.
  • Establish commercial arrangements for key upcoming operational requirements.
  • Ensure all commercial and contractual agreements for the WA operation comply with Lynas corporate frameworks, policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Develop the annual requirements and budget for the WA Logistics and Commercial function within the agreed Lynas Group guidelines framework for approval by the General Manager WA.
  • Ensure all Logistics and Commercial functions are conducted within the agreed budget limits.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs of operation whilst meeting all quality, HSE and Community objectives without compromising company standards.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate capture of all transportation and logistics costs within the Groups ERP application Pronto within the Group finance
  • Develop and manage own work schedule.
  • Ensure work activities are undertaken in a safe manner.
