About the Role:

As a Data Communications Technician with PEER, you will receive training and gain relevant competencies whilst assisting in the construction, maintenance and operation of equipment relating to the Data Communications industry.

Duties Include:

  • Telecommunications systems and infrastructure
  • Optical fibre and structured cabling
  • Security systems
  • Computers & networking

To become a PEER Apprentice, you need to:

  • Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Hold a current drivers licence
  • Have your own reliable car
  • Be able to drive a manual vehicle
  • Have completed a Certificate II trade related course or,
  • Be prepared to complete a PEER Pre-App course
  • Be prepared to undergo drug and alcohol screening
  • Be willing to obtain a Working With Children Check
  • Have completed Year 11 or 12
  • Have good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Be committed to a nominal four year training contract to achieve UEE30411 Certificate III in Voice & Data Communications

PEER Apprentices will, at times, be required to:

  • Travel up to 1 hour to and from work
  • Work industry hours between 6:00am and 6:00pm
  • Be available to work weekends
  • Work a reasonable amount of overtime
  • Work at heights, on ladders and on EWP equipment
  • Work in roof spaces
  • Work in Commercial, Domestic, Maintenance and Service sectors
  • Be physically fit and able to carry out manual handling activities
