If you do not meet the citizenship conditions for service in the ADF, we are unable to accept an application from you. You are welcome to apply once you have completed your citizenship journey.

If you're interested in getting behind the wheel of a vehicle more exciting than a standard car or truck, this could be the role for you. From Land rover 110s, Mercedes Benz G Wagons or 40M Medium trucks, to HX77 Heavy Utility trucks, there will be no lack of variety as a Driver in the Army.

Your role:

As a Driver, you’ll keep the Army moving and play a pivotal role in the distribution of equipment, supplies and Army personnel via a wide range of different vehicles, on all-terrain.

You’ll be trained in driving, loading and maintaining these vehicles, allowing you to achieve a wide range of tasks to support the Army in Australia and overseas. Along with this, you’ll be trained to fully camouflage a vehicle, operate forklifts, cranes, winches, conduct vehicle inspections and operate a vehicle in a range of scenarios.

Following your initial military training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia.

In the Army you'll get paid a competitive salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $50,145 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training.

On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $66,963 per annum plus generous super.

As part of your training for this Driver role, you’ll earn qualifications for the operation of certain vehicles.

Life in the Army:

This is no ordinary job—but that’s exactly what you’re looking for. Enjoy a rewarding career, opportunities to travel, excellent fitness facilities, and free medical and dental; all in a dynamic and fulfilling work environment.
