An exciting opportunity exists to join the Nursing team at Coledale Hospital or Bulli Hospital & Aged Care Centre as an Assistant in Nursing. There are various Permanent and Temporary vacancies available at both facilities.

What You'll Be Doing

The Assistant in Nursing is an integral part of the multidisciplinary health care team, working under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. The Assistant in Nursing will support and provide quality care for patients/clients.

Where you'll be working

Coledale Hospital specialises in rehabilitation and aged care services for the Northern Illawarra. It has a purpose-built unit for patients awaiting nursing home placement. Coledale Hospital was opened in 1917 as a result of the efforts of local miners and townspeople who wanted a hospital to service the medical needs of local miners.

Bulli Hospital & Aged Care Centre is a 60 bed facility offering sub-acute Aged Care services across two wards, 1 East and 2 East. Bulli works closely with the Aged Care Specialist team at Wollongong Hospital to ensure a safe and timely transfer of patients who have completed an acute episode of care and require additional assessment, Sub-Acute medical management and planning for ongoing care needs. Bulli Hospital also provides outpatient Geriatric Services via the Geriatric Outpatient Therapy unit. This service is supported by a Geriatrician, Advanced Trainee in Aged Care, specialist nursing staff and Allied Health. The outpatient unit houses a therapy area and assessment area for patient appointments.

Selection Criteria

  • Holds Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (HLT33115) (Acute Care or Aged Care) or equivalent.
  • A minimum of twelve months clinical experience working in an acute or aged care facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, including both the ability to communicate with a range of people and document correctly within in the health care record.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use information technology systems.
