About The Company

Our client is a national manufacturer and distributor based in Greater Western Sydney.

About the Role

My client is looking for a hands-on inventory controller/ purchasing officer, managing relationships between purchasing, sales and logistics at a high traffic trade centre. Responsibilities include inventory control, ordering stock, cycle counting, shrinkage management and liaising with the building sector.

You must have a good understanding of importing and exporting and have intermediate Excel Skills. Key areas of focus for the role includes:

  • Placing orders
  • Ensuring optimum levels of stock are available to meet sales and customer delivery requirements
  • Receipt of goods
  • Reconcile invoices against purchase orders
  • Ensure all stock inventory transactions are completed in accordance with procedures
  • Investigating discrepancies and completing invoice requirements
  • Assist with cycle counting and stocktakes
  • Provide support for processing return inventory
  • Provide general administrative assistance to the team when required

The Successful Applicant will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • Experience in the hardware or timber sector is essential
  • Tertiary qualifications relating to inventory control / purchasing would be highly regarded
  • Ability to work within a high pressure multi tasking environment, meeting deadlines and have the ability to prioritise.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and a high standard of work.
  • Exceptional computer literacy skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and strong written skills.
  • Commitment to high quality work, confident, a positive attitude and prepared to do hands on work
  • Great attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Experience dealing with direct imports from several countries in Asia, Europe and USA is critical.
  • A thorough understanding of the freight forwarding process and technicalities of each country
  • Needs to be across the strategy of pricing across both Freight and Suppliers
  • 3-5 years experience in purchasing and inventory management
