Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time

Hours per week: Up to 38 hours per week

Position Grade: Enrolled Nurse Year 1 / 2

Salary: $58,022.57 - $59,253.98

Position Summary:

The Hospital in the Home (HITH) service is comprised of a team of registered nurses, a nurse practitioner, a physiotherapist, an advanced trainee registrar and a medical consultant. HITH patients are admitted patients and care is delivered using a hospital bed substitution model of care, across a 7 day service. Care is delivered in the patient’s home, hospital clinic setting, or in the patient’s workplace. Delivery of care is generally high intensity and short term in nature. The HITH service’s primary objective is to optimise patient outcomes, thereby reducing hospital length of stay and/or avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions and emergency presentations.

The enrolled nurse practice works under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse, and practice in accordance with NSW Health guidelines and local policy and protocol. At all times, the enrolled nurse retains responsibility for his/her actions and remains accountable in providing delegated nursing care. Enrolled nurse responsibilities in the provision of patient-centered nursing care include recognition of normal and abnormal assessments, interventions and evaluations of individual health and functional status. The enrolled nurse monitors the impact of nursing care and maintains ongoing communication with the registered nurse regarding the health and functional status of individuals. The enrolled nurse may administer prescribed medicines or maintain intravenous fluids, in accordance with their educational preparation. Enrolled nurses demonstrate critical and reflective thinking skills in contributing to decision making which includes reporting changes in health and functional status and individual responses to health care interventions. Enrolled nurses work as a part of the health care team to advocate for and facilitate the involvement of individuals, their families and significant others in planning and evaluating care and progress toward health outcomes.

  • Currently registered as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) with the Australian Health Professionals
  • Regulation Agency and current NSW drivers licence (Class C or above) for community based positions

  • Demonstrated computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record system
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
