How will I help?

Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, WIB (Westpac Institutional Bank), the Head of Compliance for Markets is responsible for leading the implementation Westpacs compliance strategy across the Financial Markets and Group Treasury businesses in each of the locations they operate. This includes risk assessment, incident management, monitoring, reporting, training and continuous improvement.

As part of your responsibilities, you will provide advisory compliance support to those businesses, including working with local heads of Compliance in International offices to ensure a consistent outcome for global businesses. You will support to resolve critical compliance business issues and develop appropriate solutions while adopting a continuous improvement approach to enhance overall effectiveness and efficiency.

Furthermore, you will be leading a team of senior compliance professionals in the design and delivery of commercial, compliant solutions in response to regulatory requirements and change. The team will act as a trusted advisor to the Financial markets and Treasury businesses within WIB. The Head of Compliance will act as a delegate for the CCO, WIB, at relevant governance forums

What do I need?

A strong candidate will bring extensive experience in compliance advisory/framework development, operational risk, legal or assurance. You will have proven knowledge with Wholesale Banking and Financial Markets, with specific product knowledge across Fixed Income, commodities and FX.

You will display leadership traits in order to lead, train and develop junior staff. This person will have sound project management/delivery experience. You will hold stakeholder management skills and highly proficient with both your verbal and written communication. You will be asked to challenge and hold your own amongst some key people across the organisation and provide your thought leadership on several matters.
