Are you seeking an exciting and professionally satisfying opportunity?

Mount Lawley Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic leader to join the Leadership Team as Program Coordinator – English. As a key member of the School’s Leadership Team, it is highly desirable that you will have had recent experience leading an English team. The ability to teach high level English courses is required. You will be required to provide curriculum leadership in English across Years 7 - 12 and work in collaboration with fellow Program Coordinators and school administrators to implement the Western Australian Curriculum.

The successful applicant will ideally possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable them to provide professional leadership and current information on relevant curriculum matters to English teachers and other staff members.

We are seeking an individual who inspires passion for learning in others and enjoys a real sense of achievement when working with staff and students. Successful experience in teaching English to students seeking broad pathways is highly desirable, along with curriculum implementation. The ability to analyse student performance data and use this in planning is desirable. The Program Coordinator – English will lead the learning area Professional Learning Community. Leaders will exhibit a personal commitment to the values of the school: excellence, respect, perseverance and learning. Additionally, teachers are expected to embrace the school’s Pedagogical Framework (attached) and the associated program of improving teaching, including High Impact Teaching Strategies and peer observation.

There is an expectation that all staff have a focus on pastoral care, students’ well-being and commitment to forming positive working relationships with students. Staff will engage with parents to assist student learning and ensure there are no surprises about student progress.

Founded in 1955, Mount Lawley SHS is located within a residential suburb 5 kilometres north of the Perth CBD. It comprises three sub-schools; Middle School Years 7 & 8, Upper School Years 9 & 10 and Senior School Years 11 & 12. It hosts a Gifted and Talented Languages program, an approved Specialist Visual and Performing Arts program, a Jazz Music program and the innovative Aboriginal Excellence Program. The school offers a breadth of curriculum choices and has a rich history of student success and achievement.

A major strength of the school is its strong links and partnerships with parents and the broader community. All staff at Mount Lawley Senior High School are committed to the provision of learning programs that cater for all post-school destinations including university, State Training Providers and employment.

With the school vision of Inspire to Aspire and a motto of Truth and Courtesy, there is an expectation that staff and students commit to the attainment of personal best and excellence in all aspects of school life.
