Your opportunity

The Business Development and Tender Manager is responsible for the management and development of major SME customers and maximising value and margin contribution to Origin.
The role is focused on selling Electricity, Gas and Energy Solutions and the core function of this role is to manage and maximise margin delivered through the multisite customers.

Working across the broader Origin business and closely with Managers, Multi-sites, Buying Groups and Tenders, the person in this role will ensure, energy risk management solutions, competitive gas and electricity offerings and delivery of Energy Solutions at all times.

As a proven leader and business development expert, you will;

  • Work closely with key sales channels, pricing, legal, commercial, and marketing teams to deliver the most effective solutions for customers
  • Lead and develop the sales team
  • Work across other Origin sales & product teams to leverage cross selling opportunities wherever possible and growing the number of Energy solutions sold to customers
  • Contribute to meeting and exceeding volume and margin targets to win and keep Multisite SME customers
  • Identify and develop opportunities, then manage and support Multi-site customers through life onboarding and contract lifecycle
  • Prepare written tender documents and responses to large complex customers, including commercial assessment of terms and conditions
  • Maximise margin value for Origin across customer base
  • Deliver margin outcomes in line with budget and strategic plan expectations
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience for customers through the solutions provided, relationship building and ongoing operational excellence
  • Identify and establish new channels to market and new customer segments
  • Qualify and prioritise solution and sales opportunities identified through market interactions
  • Develop relationships internally across the Origin business and externally with customers
  • Prepare compelling written proposals to customers ensuring risk is assessed and terms and conditions are managed

About you

Along with your appetite for sales, you’ll need:

  • Proven sales leadership and business development experience in the Energy industry, specifically SME markets
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant sales experience in leading a high-performance sales team in a competitive and growing market with a proven sales track record
  • High level negotiation skills, including formal training in negotiation techniques.
  • Highly developed tactical insight, with the experience of analysing markets & distilling commercial opportunities
  • Experience in negotiating and closing complex, solutions-oriented deals
  • Personal presence and the ability to network to develop business relationships at senior levels across the energy industry
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated capabilities in customer communications and management of internal and external negotiations.
  • Ability to work autonomously and to deadlines
  • Ability to respond to written tender specifications with strong written communication skills
  • Post grad qualifications would be an advantage
