Role: Assistant Project Officer Aboriginal(identified), Community and Industry Engagement

Grade: Clerk Grade 5/6 (Salary $85,744 ot $94,610 + superannuation)
Duration: Ongoing

About the DCS Aboriginal Employment Strategy
Our DCS Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES) focuses on delivering outcomes to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our communities are heard, jobs are provided and their careers with DCS are supported within a culturally safe environment.

The successful candidate forthis role will play an integral part in delivering on our ambitious AES targets, whichinclude the commitment to increasing our current Aboriginal workforce to aminimum of 4 per cent across all grades by 2025.

About the team
The role sitsin the Community and Engagement Branch, Community and Industry Engagement teamwhich is responsible for delivering strategic engagement services to externalcommunities and key industries. The team works across the Better RegulationDivision to enable the implementation of effective harm minimisationstrategies. This role supports the development, delivery and implementation ofculturally informed community engagement strategies aimed Aboriginal communitiesand internal stakeholders.

This role is responsible for:
* Supporting the development and delivery of effective engagement initiatives to build capacity within communities, industries and stakeholders internally and externally
* Engaging positively and regularly with the community to minimise harms
* Provide a range of administrative and secretariat services, including coordinating committees, stakeholder meetings and forums to ensure efficiency in team operations

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
* Evidence of Australian Aboriginality
* Proven experience in engaging positively with community and/or industry groups
* Ability to plan, prioritise and respond flexibly to changing circumstances
* Experience in working effectively with others as part of a cooperative team
* Experience in providing administrative support

Aboriginalas defined by the Aboriginal Lands Rights Act 1983 (NSW) is a person who:
* Identifies as a person of Aboriginal descent
* Presents documentation identifying their family’s Aboriginal descent
* Is accepted by their local Aboriginal community as a person of Aboriginal descent
