The opportunity:

The User Experience Designer (UX/UI) will be responsible for designing and optimising AIA’s digital experience ensuring that we are developing digital solutions that guarantee the customers experience through its lifecycle is fluid and intuitive, resulting in a best in class experience for every interaction.

Reporting to the Digital Experience and Design Manager and working with a team of UX/UI Designers, the Digital Experience Designer will both contribute to and lead operational initiatives to optimise digital assets, as well as strategic projects to support our digital ambitions ensuring experiences are designed from a user-centred perspective, considering business and technical requirements, and delivering to a high quality.

The role will work closely with a variety of stakeholders across the business as well as our external clients and agencies.

This is a split role between UX and UI and requires both UX and UI skills. Previous Experience in Health insurance is a bonus.

To do this successfully you will:

  • Both lead and support the delivery of UX and UI activities across concept and interface design
  • Both lead and support user experience work on strategic and innovation projects across web and mobile, ensuring experiences are designed from a user-centred perspective, considering business and technical requirements, and delivering to a high quality.
  • Gather qualitative insight to inform and apply to projects through participatory and iterative design activities such as user interviews and testing, participatory and stakeholder workshops and other forms of requirements discovery.
  • Translate concepts into wireframes and mockups that lead to intuitive user experiences.
  • Responsible for User interface design and UI handover to dev, working with the digital brand guidelines and design system
  • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
  • Provide recommendations of hypotheses that can be tested with respect to customer journey optimisations and work with the Digital Product Owners, UX Researcher and Marketing Teams to ensure that results from these hypothesis result in clear recommendations.
  • Contribute to and maintain the Digital Design Language across the AIA portfolio of brands, ensuring alignment to the master brand guidelines and establish governance to ensure consistent application across digital experiences
  • Act as an advocate for user experience across the business, increasing engagement and business understanding of the value and benefits of this function, and effectively communicating research findings, conceptual ideas and detailed design rational.
  • Works in collaboration across the organisation to develop validated end-to-end customer experiences and support transformational change leading to desired commercial and customer outcomes

Successful applications will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a similar role: User Experience / User Interface Designer
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent in a Design or Technology related discipline
  • Must have excellent design skills and an eye for detail, strong communication and organisational skills and written communication skills that influence and inform are critical.
  • Expert understanding of user interface design and user experience strategy
  • Design experience in web, tablet and mobile environments required
  • Experience with web site design, including HTML5, CSS and responsive design techniques
  • Must have experience integrating user research into design practices
  • Ability to translate complex concepts and ideas into visual representations, including, journeys, mockups and detailed designs into UI handover
  • Demonstrable experience in managing projects and facilitating cross functional working groups, maintaining partnerships, advocacy & influencing at senior levels in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to lead teams (directly or indirectly) to deliver using customer centric mindsets, methods, templates and tools in a way that drives sustainable business performance
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Agile techniques and modern digital product development.
