About the facility

Barwon Health’s newly formed Public Health Unit servicing the Barwon South West region is initially focussing on COVID-19 preparedness, response and facilitation, with a particular focus initially on the COVID 19 Immunisation program. It will then later focus on other key areas of communicable and chronic diseases to improve public health to the entire region.

The specialist immunisation clinic provides vaccinations and vaccination advice for people with complex needs. There is a telephone advice line and a weekly outpatient clinic.

About the role

As the Registered Nurse Accredited Immuniser within the Specialist Immunisation clinic you will primarily be responsible for providing vaccination advice to doctors, nurses, and community vaccination providers, as well as providing supervised COVID vaccinations in the weekly Specialist Immunisation Clinic.

To be successful in this role you will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Accreditation as a Nurse Immuniser, having satisfactorily completed an approve program of study for Immunisers recognised by the Chief Health Officer.

  • Ability to undertake required modules of online learning as required for by DNHHS to enable RN to administer the COVID vaccination ( This does not allow for administration of other vaccines)

  • Previous High acuity or triage experience desirable. 

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to initiate and maintain contacts with team members, clients and a range of service providers.
