About The Role

We're looking for an experienced Traffic Manager (Senior Project Engineer - Traffic) to join our team and support us in our delivery of a complex road widening project, which also includes upgrades to numerous intersections and roundabouts in Perth. You will provide leadership and manage all traffic management activities and requirements associated with our works in co-ordination with our delivery teams and external stakeholders.


  • Promote and ensure compliance with Laing O’Rourke’s health, safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for all aspects of traffic management across the project, including managing a team for the preparation and approval of Traffic Management Plans for all construction works;
  • Ensure all site works are carried out in accordance with approved designs and conforming to road safety plans and audits.
  • Managing traffic management budget and forecasts for traffic controllers, temporary barriers, traffic signs, pavement marking, road safety audits etc.;
  • Management of subcontractors in the preparation of staging plans, traffic guidance schemes, and implementation of these;
  • Primary liaison with stakeholders regarding traffic impacts of major closures to ensure the project is delivered with minimal disruption;
  • Planning and implementation of all traffic switches, including planning and organisation of barrier movements, line marking changes and signage;
  • Preparation of monthly and weekly reports.

You will have

As a suitable candidate for this role, you will hold a degree qualification in Engineering and an Advanced Worksafe Traffic Management certificate with accreditation from a Roadwork’s Traffic Manager. You will have proven experience leading and working on multiple large scale roads projects with high traffic volumes and technical, logistical and traffic management delivery challenges.

Important to your role, will be your ability to demonstrate a safety conscious approach to your daily work, along with excellent problem solving and organisational skills. You will lead from the front and encourage collaboration between departments to allow the best outcomes for the project. Your excellent communication skills and solid understanding of issues which affect traffic management is crucial to your ability to interact effectively with local roads authorities and other stakeholders.
