About The Opportunity

WesCEF are committed to being a leader in environmental protection by reducing our environmental impact, ensuring achievement of internal, community, and regulatory obligations.

As the Environmental Superintendent, reporting to the Divisional HSEQ Manager, you will be accountable for driving continuous improvement in environmental performance within a diverse operating environment at our Kwinana facilities. You will lead regulatory engagement and drive success in sustainability and compliance through regular reporting and analysis.

As a results-oriented and consultative leader you will guide a team of 12 (including six direct reports) to develop, implement, embed, and monitor our environmental programs to deliver sustainable environmental practices.

To be successful in this role you will be hands on in your approach and enjoy working closely with a range of internal customers.

Who are our businesses?

The Environment Team supports a range of leaders and teams across a diverse group of mature and stable businesses including CSBP Ammonia Ammonium Nitrate, Australian Gold Reagents (AGR), CSBP Fertilisers, Kleenheat and EVOL LNG with production and distribution facilities in Kwinana, the Northern Territory, and regional locations in Western Australia.

In addition, you will
  • Define key issues, strategies, and actions for WesCEF and provide input into strategic direction of the team and business.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of our operational environments (heavy industry).
  • Contribute to the development, review and maintenance of environment policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Communicate major changes to legislation, regulations, and Codes of Practices to relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee development and delivery of education and awareness training.
  • Mentor your team, supporting their learning and development, ensuring accountability, and celebrating successes in the team.
  • Grow working relationships with regulatory and industry bodies and associations, and the broader Wesfarmers Group.
  • Demonstrate HSE leadership and champion a positive HSE culture.
Do you have a mixture of the following skills and experience?

You will have demonstrated success in a similar senior role with significant experience in heavy industry, a sound understanding relevant legislative requirements and best practice, and tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline. In addition, you will
  • Demonstrate experience facilitating environmental approvals for complex industrial businesses within Western Australia, including an understanding of air quality monitoring and health risk assessments.
  • Have a history of challenging the status quo and continuously improving the systems that support the people.
  • Value a customer centric approach, with the ability to influence at all levels across business and technical stakeholders and communicate the complex in simple, accessible language.
  • Demonstrate high level analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing demands and meet challenging deadlines.
