About the Role
National Parks & Wildlife Service is seeking a Senior Aviation Officer with experience coordinating firefighting and incident aviation resources and aircraft across NSW to support effective and efficient management is delivered.

Key Duties:
Develop complex state-wide strategic policies and plans; coordinate and review policies, plans and projects to facilitate the strategic focus of aviation management within NPWS, and comply with corporate responsibilities; develop and negotiate aviation policies and Standard Operating Procedures in consultation with the Aviation Reference Group to ensure consistency across RFS and DPIE.
Introduce new, innovative technology and systems to provide efficient and effective information for corporate aviation programs
Establish, maintain and be accountable for effective and efficient communication strategies and networks
Provide high quality strategic advice and support to Park Operations and Park Programs Branches and wider DPIE on complex aviation programs and operational requirements to ensure a consistent approach is applied to industry best practice and procedures, including in relation to Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA).
Coordinate the development and implementation of NPWS and inter-agency aviation standards, systems and procedures, and audit performance against corporate and industry aviation standards;
Undertake projects as required, including development and updating of Aviation Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and liaise directly with the Chair of the Aviation Reference Group (ARG) regarding special projects and other operational procedures developed by the ARG.
Lead and supervise NPWS State Air Desk support staff, including inter-agency staff, as required during busy periods and provides hands on training of procedures and use of aircraft and other aviation related databases.

Essential Requirement:
Sound understanding of aircraft coordination and management, including appropriate operational applications and limitations of aviation resources, and fire and incident management operations.
Experience in managing contracts and complex projects, strategic business planning, delivering and evaluating complex programs and policy development.
Knowledge and understanding of relevant aviation legislation, and compliance, together with a sound understanding of the mechanics of government, and a demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation
