Everyone needs a platform to launch a satisfying career. At Monash, we give you the space and support to take your career in all kinds of exciting new directions. You’ll have access to quality research, infrastructure and learning facilities, opportunities to collaborate internationally, as well as the grants you’ll need to publish your work. We’re a university full of energetic and enthusiastic minds, driven to challenge what’s expected, expand what we know, and learn from other inspiring, empowering thinkers.

An exciting opportunity for an early career researcher exists to join the Chronic Disease and Ageing Unit within the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM). The incumbent is expected to make independent or original contributions to the research effort within the field of Diabetes and Metabolism and is expected to lead, grow and support the Diabetes Research Program.

The Monash SPHPM Diabetes Research Unit is focussed on generating and translating knowledge on the prevention and management of diabetes and its complications. It aims to improve care and outcomes for people living with or at risk of diabetes. The program encompasses ambitious large-scale trials/projects with large budgets and utilises a range of different study designs to answer specific questions in the most appropriate manner including epidemiological and social science-based approaches. The nature of the program and opportunities for local and international collaboration foster direct interactions between clinicians and researchers and mentoring of junior researchers. With studies embedded in existing health services and general practice the findings are directly relevant and translatable to clinical care.

The Senior Research Fellow will play a key role in existing clinical and translational research projects such as the Australian National Diabetes Audit and Living Evidence in Diabetes Guidelines as well as lead the development of new projects including clinical trials and cohort studies, and health care improvement/implementation projects.

To be appointable into this role you must hold a doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline area or equivalent accreditations and standing together with subsequent research experience. In addition to this you must have relevant clinical experience (including AHPRA medical registration without conditions, undertakings or reprimands).

This role is a part-time or full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. This position at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check and a satisfactory Police Check.

Your application must address the selection criteria. For instructions on how to apply, please refer to "How to apply for Monash Jobs".
