ABOUT THE BRANCH

COMCAR, the Commonwealth Government’s car-with-driver service, provides high quality, secure and confidential transport to Federal Parliamentarians, VIP clients, visiting dignitaries and major events nationwide. COMCAR has drivers located in each state and territory across Australia and reservations for services can be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

ABOUT THE ROLES

COMCAR is looking to fill several vacancies in the National Operations Centre, which is primarily responsible for the planning and delivery of ground transport services to a high profile client base.

We are seeking candidates who are polite, team focused and who will collectively work towards delivering an outstanding standard of service delivery.

The roles may be filled on an ongoing, non-ongoing (specified term or casual irregular/intermittent basis, and includes shift work comprising of early mornings, late evening and overnight shifts across seven days a week, including public holidays.

Remuneration is in line with the Department of Finance Enterprise Agreement 2019 and includes a roster allowance for ongoing and non-ongoing employees, and shift loadings for Casual employees.
Ongoing and non-ongoing (specified term) COMCAR National Operations Centre employees working set roster arrangements will be entitled to a roster allowance at the annual rate, currently $17,202 (pro-rata for part-time employees), in lieu of shift penalties, which will be paid fortnightly.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
Assisting COMCAR Clients and their staff to create, amend and cancel COMCAR bookings;
Liaising with COMCAR State Managers, COMCAR drivers and outsourced providers to ensure high quality service is delivered to COMCAR Clients;
Contributing positively to the COMCAR National Operations Centre and fostering a team based culture;
Assisting team members in performing their duties to ensure a seamless client experience; and
Other duties as required.

Full training on IT systems will be provided on commencement.

ELIGIBILITY ADVICE & CANDIDATE NOTES

Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated in the downloadable job pack. All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
These roles are being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing (specified term and casual irregular/intermittent) and may be offered as either ongoing or non- ongoing subject to business needs and/or candidate preference.
Where a non-ongoing (specified term) role is offered, the role will be filled as a specified term vacancy for an initial period of up to 6 months. Specified term vacancies may be extended up to a maximum period of three years.
Where a non-ongoing (casual irregular/intermittent) role is offered, work is provided on an as needed basis. There is no guarantee of set days and hours and work will only be offered as required. An annual salary will be paid as a hourly rate, including a 25% loading in lieu of annual leave, personal leave and public holidays
Successful applicants must be available for 24/7 rostered work.
Successful applicants will be assessed at completion of operation training.
Successful applicants must be successful in meeting the required competencies to pass the probationary period.
