Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS5 Project Officer on a contract for 6 months with potential extension of 6 month.

Position Overview

Project Support professionals support the Project Manager. They monitor project schedules and budgets, prepare progress reports, and liaise with key stakeholders.

Project Officers provide high-level procedural, administrative and operational support to a work area to support the delivery of the agency's projects.

Working under the general direction of senior staff, they play a role in maintaining relationships with other project teams, and stakeholders to provide advice and ensure the consistent delivery of project outputs.

Duties & Responsibilities:
assist in project management and coordination activities
contribute to the development and management of project plans and schedules in accordance with the agency's project management framework
contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement
assist with the mentoring of and training of new staff to build knowledge and capability
provide advice, procedural guidance and technical expertise in specific areas of project work
perform research work and analysis including contributing to the preparation of reports on relevant project activities
contribute to regular project reporting including status updates and exception reports
draft a range of written material including business cases, plans, executive briefs and corporate documentation for review by senior staff
assist with monitoring project budgets, review and report on expenditure and assist with procurement and contract management
assist with the identification and management of project risks, issues and benefits
assist with project quality management to ensure that project deliverables are fit for purpose and meet client needs
support and maintain stakeholder relationships to support the delivery of projects
represent the team or work area at meetings and forums
exercise delegations appropriate to role in accordance with legislation and guidelines.

Knowledge required:
Knowledge and understanding of:
project and programme management frameworks and policies
the programmes and services administered by the agency
relevant service models, including the agency's Service Delivery Operating Model
legislation, policies, procedures and information management requirements relevant to the work area
relevant business systems and tools
the agency's privacy, ethics, workplace health and safety and security protocols.

Mandatory Requirements:
The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline security clearance.
