We are currently seeking aFinancial Accountant to join our Finance department on a full-time fixed term (6 month) basis. Reporting to our Manager, Financial Accounting, this position is responsible for the production of the Group’s annual financial report, monthly Board reporting and compliance with other statutory and tax obligations.

In addition, the Financial Accountant role is key in assisting the Manager, Financial Accounting in setting and upholding the Financial Control Framework of the Group.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Preparing the Annual Financial Statements (including preparation of detailed audit working papers, liaison with the external audit team, adhering to all deadlines and reporting requirements) of the Group
  • Preparing the monthly Board reporting covering balance sheet and cashflow statements (including completion of the monthly accruals, journals, fixed assets and depreciation schedules) ensuring consistency, accuracy and timeliness of internal reporting to achieve regulatory and business outcomes
  • Reconciling of balance sheet accounts
  • Ensuring Accounting standards and Bethanie Finance policies & procedures are adhered to
  • Assisting in process improvement and systems enhancement initiatives
  • Assisting the Manager, Financial Accounting in setting and maintaining financial controls
  • Preparing weekly cash flow forecasts
  • Ensuring compliance with all debt obligations

About You

Significant experience in a financial accounting role with a minimum of 3 to 5 years.

Additionally, you will be able to clearly demonstrate the following attributes:
  • Proven experience in presenting financial information to senior level management and non-financial stakeholders
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience with computerised software packages including databases, spreadsheets and IT tools to support report working
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills combined with interpersonal skills that facilitate the establishment and maintenance of effective work relationships
  • Problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work through issues with moderate complexity and guide others in the resolution of problems
  • Prior commercial experience in aged care will be highly regarded
  • Degree in Finance and Accounting
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, with CA or CPA qualification (or working towards)
