Due to continued growth within our organisation, we have a newly created opportunity for a self-motivated and experienced Risk and Governance Officer to join our Governance and Reporting Team.

The Victorian Ombudsman (VO) is currently seeking applications from candidates to provide organisation-wide advice and reporting on business insights, risk, compliance, governance and forecasting including related policies and dashboards.

Classification: VPS 4

Tenure: Full time or Part-time (min 3 days)

Salary Range: $87,640 - $99,438 per annum (pro rata if part-time) plus a 9.5% employer superannuation contribution

Who we are:
We're the Victorian Ombudsman. Our office provides a free, independent, accessible and impartial service to all Victorians. Our purpose is to ensure fairness for Victorians in their dealings with the public sector, to improve public administration and to foster confidence in the integrity of the sector.

You will bring to this opportunity a mix of experience in:

  • Management and continuous improvement of key frameworks and guidelines relating to policy, incident management, conflict of interest and gifts, benefits and hospitality, to ensure that governance requirements are met.
  • Provision of risk management and governance framework and associated business implementation and systems training, to support increased capability, knowledge and risk-based decision making across the organisation.
  • Reporting and escalating risk and policy issues, analyse, understand the root cause to the issues, provide risk assessments and working with stakeholders, develop appropriate action plans to manage the risk or remediate the non-compliance.
  • Risk reviews of the effectiveness of processes, procedures and methodologies to minimise exposure to operational risks.
